Rosie is a classy, long, elegant beauty - and she knows it. She is a pleasure to ride with smooth gaits and lots of spirit. She can and likes to run when asked. Rosie is a well-balanced, althletic performance mare with racing bloodlines. Someday we hope she is in a racing stable and foals an All American Futurity winner.
Appearance
Rosie has a refined head with a star and a nice short back with a long hip. Although registered as a sorrel, she is almost a red roan with lots of white hairs and dapples. She is a 1999 mare and stands at 15-2 H. She is very well proportioned and deceptively long.
Disposition & Training
As we said before, and we'll say it again - she is a pleasure to ride because she has smooth moves, is quick, and very attentive to the rider. You don't have to tell her twice what to do. She pivots, does flying lead changes, and has a very nice sliding stop. She has a good head set and is light on the bit.
Rosie was trained when she was 3 years old by a young reining and barrel-racing champion from Nebraska. Then we brought Rosie down here to New Mexico where she cut her front leg. She was doctored, pampered, kicked out to pasture, and rested until she turned 7. Then we sent her to Greg, our local trainer, for polish. When Greg saddled and rode her, he said she had not forgotten a thing. Rosie has lots of spirit and personality, so you either love her or you don't. She has never offered to buck, regardless of who rides her, but then again, neither does her mother or half-sister, Josie (Josiesmart Bolt, AQHA 4433386, 2003 chestnut mare).
Prospects
Rosie knows about barrels and will watch a cow, although she doesn't have a lot of experience chasing either one. Greg says she should be a good roping horse, but then again Greg says that about all our horses. You'll have to try her out for yourself. She does have the bloodlines to be an excellent racing brood mare. If you know racing horses, you can see that from her attached pedigree.
