Little Jake, the Gambler,  is adorable and loves to be petted, but is not a pet. He has worlds of self-confidence and always works with his ears pricked forward and his tail out. Jake enjoys life and being a horse.

Appearance:
Jake is a stout, classic sorrel quarter horse gelding with heavy muscles, short canon bones, and a deep body. He is a 2004 model standing at 14-2 h. He probably never will be real tall, maybe no more than 14-3 h when full grown, but he is well-proportioned and looks beautiful under a saddle. He has a masculine head with a blaze face and is wide between the eyes.

Disposition:
Jake is always alert and very quick on his feet. He has the body length to be fast. He is a joy to ride and watch work because he has a snappy trot and a rocking chair lope. He should be beautiful in western pleasure, yet stout enough to trip a steer and quick enough to cut a cow as he can ‘spin on a dime' and do it every time. We are of the opinion this horse should be a youth horse. He is so easy to work with (except for wanting to be in your lap) and has a quiet, gentle disposition. Jake turned two in July 2006, so he is a bit behind our other 2-year-olds. He could easily grow up with a young boy or girl - and when everyone is old enough, Jake could be a roping horse. In the meantime, take Jake in Pleasure, Reining, or Halter classes.

Training:
Jake learned his basics when he was one year old before he was turned back out on the range with his buddies to be a horse. As of 01 January 07, he received professional training in lounging, driving, reining under saddle, and the other usual Greg McVey training skills.  Jake was under training for 50 days before going to pasture for a rest.
